As an artist/naturalist Katherine Pickens explores, observes, and renders the bio-diversity 
and wonders of our environment. In the traditional botanical style of realistic watercolor 
illustrations or in abstracted drawings and paintings of minute patterns from micro imagery, 
she give you a view of nature often passed by or unseen to the casual observer. Her pieces evolve from inspiration derived from field observation, specimen collections and research offered by the scientific communities. The works are produced on paper through the use of mixed media including watercolor, ink, color pencil and graphite.
